The scientific activity of students is based on the scientific program carried out at the Institute of Physics and includes subjects that are conducted by experimental and theoretical research groups.
The main experimental research topics are:
• properties and technology of mono- and polycrystalline intermetallic compounds and perovskites;
• properties and technology of ferroelectric and antiferroelectric materials;
• properties and technology of magnetic materials;
• investigation of crystal structures and their defects; molecular dynamics and phase transitions;
• electromagnetic interaction in biological materials;
• nuclear reactions, nuclear structure and applications of nuclear methods and technology.
The theoretical research activities include:
• Theory of condensed matter;
• Statistical Physics;
• Theory of elementary particles;
• Theoretical Astrophysics and Cosmology.
The programme opens possibilities to several employment options. Candidates have the opportunity to continue their scientific career through academic jobs, may engage as a researcher working in a lab for an industrial company or work in connection with computer programming.


EU/EFTA citizens applying on a regular basis – no tuition fee, no application fee;
Non-EU/EFTA citizens: 3 950 EUR per year + 100 EUR – application fee.

Educational requirements:
• MSc degree in Physics or Physics-related discipline;
• letters of recommendation;

other requirements

• Document confirming the candidate’s identity (e.g. identity card, passport);
• a valid health certificate (a medical certificate stating that there are no restrictions against taking up studies in a given field of study);
• a sickness and accident insurance policy which remains valid throughout the period of studies in Poland or the European Health Insurance Card or insurance in the Polish National Health Fund (concluded immediately after commencing education in Poland);
• a completed application form (printed from university online application system – IRK);
• a valid visa or residence card, or another document entitling student to stay in the Republic of Poland – in case of foreigners from outside the European Union, the Swiss Confederation or the European Free Trade Association;
• 3 photographs (dimensions: 37 x 52 mm, in the left semi profile with a visible left ear, without any jewellery, bareheaded and without any dark glasses, with equal lighting on the face);
• 1 digital photography (JPG file, dimensions: 400 x 500 pixels, in the left semi profile with a visible left ear, without any jewellery, bareheaded and without any dark glasses, with equal lighting on the face).
